It’s hard to believe, Passover is just around the corner and Soupergirl is here to help! Soupergirl will, once again be offering a healthy, hand-crafted, all natural, absolutely delicious Passover meal delivery program.

The Soupergirl menu includes some classics (charoset, tsimmes, and more), along with a full list of delicious soups and desserts. Everything is 100% plant-based (parve). Kosher for Pesach gazpacho? Chocolate Nut Bark? Absolutely! The site is now live at https://holiday.thesoupergirl.com. Get thee some hand-made maror!

And YES - we deliver AND ship nationwide. Pick up in Washington, DC is also available!

Sale of Chametz

Before Pesach, it is a requirement to eliminate all chametz (bread products or derivatives of bread products) from our possession. Jewish law allows for chametz, especially and preferably, only in non-bread-like form (e.g. liquors, mixtures, etc.) to be sold to a gentile in those circumstances when elimination is not an option. Arrangements for such sale may be made through Maharat Ruth Friedman using this form. (Closed)

Deadline to submit is Tuesday, April 4 at 11 PM.

Wine Sale

Wine orders for our annual Pesach (Closed).

Free delivery with minimum purchase of 1 case (12 bottles), within 2 miles of Ohev. A portion of all wine sales will be donated to the shul thanks to the generosity of Potomac Wines & Spirits.

Order deadline, Friday, March 24. Pick up will take place at Ohev, dates and times TBA.

Seder Hosting

One of the best known lines of the Haggada is, “Let all who are hungry, come and eat.” Part of our celebration of Pesach involves welcoming guests into our homes for sedarim and meals. If you would like to host or be hosted for sedarim, please fill out the forms below. And if you would like any help arranging other Pesach meals please email MaharatRuth@ostns.org.

Maot Chitim

Before Pesach we have the custom to donate money for “Maot Chitim” (which literally means wheat money) to help those in need prepare for the holiday. We are collecting money for Maot Chitim that Maharat Friedman will distribute to those in need, and also using this as an opportunity to replenish our Chesed Fund which we use to distribute funds throughout the year. To contribute please go to www.ohevdc.org/donate and choose “Maot Chitim” from the drop down menu.

Eiruv Tavshilin
When Yom Tov begins on a Thursday night and extends into Shabbat , we need to make what is called an “Eiruv Tavshilin.” Because we are not supposed to prepare anything that we need for the future on Yom Tov, we should not be able to prepare for Shabbat on Yom Tov. This can present logistical challenges, so there is an opportunity to make what is known as an Eruv Tavshilin on Thursday so that we can prepare for Shabbat on Friday.
