Dear Friends Please note that these divrei torah were written before the horrific tragedy happened in Meron, Israel on the night of Lag Baomer. This tragedy is at the forefront of our minds as a joyous and happy day has been turned into a day of communal grief. Lag Baomer marks the day when a plague which had been devastating Rabbi Akiva’s students finally ceased. Let us draw inspiration from the life of Rabbi Akiva who did not give up in the face of overwhelming grief but rather, recommitted himself to his students. To all those in mourning we say, Hamakom Yinachem.
