As a community, I know that many of us would like to pray for everyone in Israel who needs our prayers. Having real names and knowing the status of those individuals will help us focus. Here is a google form where you can enter a person's name and status. We ask also for your name so that we can follow up for updates.
Chesed Committee: Lend a hand - As we try to regroup after the past few weeks, we can use this time to make ourselves available to support each other by being there for each other. For those who may be available to help out members in need of short term assistance please fill out this form.

COMPOSTING AT OHEV!
Ohev is launching a composting pilot initiative this week, to run through the end of the year. We are hopeful to build this into a regular shul practice and ask for your help in ensuring its success. This is a small step we can take towards reducing our environmental impact as a community. We’re still in the building phase so we’d love your feedback and support as we transition to this new model.
Thank you to those supporting this effort, including our Green Committee, the shul board, and the upcoming bnai mitzvah families who have come together to sponsor this initial kickoff.
This includes, in the order of simcha, the Epstein-Levisohn, Silverberg-Gershman, Wolkenfeld, Kurtzer-Ellenbogen, and Gremont-Baer families. Contact Reuven Walder at rwalder@gmail.com if you’d like to help this initiative grow.
STANDING WITH ISRAEL

Mental Health Resources - We know that all of us have been grieving, angry, sad, and shocked as we grapple with the situation unfolding in Israel. Some of you may be struggling to keep yourself calm as you also try to calm family members and loved ones. Click herefor a list of mental health resources that may be useful in these trying times.
COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington is having our Annual Hope and Healing Gala again this year on November 5th. This annual event is special. It is the one time a year we gather as a community to reaffirm our dedication to the values of kindness, compassion, and service to the needs of those with medical needs and their families and celebrate star volunteers within our Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington family. In the process, we give and draw strength from patients and caregivers as we promote unity, chesed and healing.
This is precisely the kind of event our community needs right now. But it is hard to imagine gathering together in the usual way while our hearts are so heavy. For this reason, we are planning to do things a little differently this year.
We have renamed the event A Morning of Hope and Healing and in addition to highlighting our volunteers and their work, we will be raising funds for Soroka Medical Center, a major hospital in the Negev serving Israel’s sick and wounded.
