Shabbat Morning Youth Groups - We welcome all children under Bar/Bat Mitzvah to remain in the sanctuary or else participate in youth group programming.
Tots (ages 18M - 3 years): Babysitting available beginning at 9:15am in the Tots Room. Tot Shabbat will begin at 11:00am. Parent participation is encouraged for this family program, but babysitting will remain available and ongoing until the end of services.
Shabbat Club (Prek4-Kindergarten): 10:15am in the Chadar Tikvah. J-Minyan (1st - 5th grade): 10:15am in the Chapel.

Seeking Layners for Purim! I am seeking men and women to lain at the co-ed Megillah layning for men and women. The mixed reading will happen late Purim night (March 23).
I am also seeking women to layn for women at the Women's Tefillah layning on the late morning of Purim Day (March 24).

Women's Megillat Esther Layning Learning Group with Maharat Intern Kate Rozansky Over the last two years, as I’ve participated in and recruited women to layn Megillat Esther at Ohev, I’ve heard many people say: "I’d love to learn, but I don’t know how!"
This year, I’m creating a space for the women of Ohev to either learn to layn (part of) Megillat Esther and/or to expand their repertoire of what they already know. This group will be mostly asynchronous, with regular Whastapp checkins, but with some in-person meetups (including - if there is demand - one in late December to kickstart things!).
The Capital Closet will be open to this community Sunday, February 25th from 10-11am. Come peruse our beautiful, curated selection of clothing for women, men, and children, as well as Torah School uniforms! Our new address is 9601 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20901. The Closet entrance is in the back of the building up a full flight of stairs.
There is no charge for items in The Capital Closet, but financial donations to Yad Yehuda are always appreciated. We are unable to accept clothing donations at this time with the exception of brand new coats; thank you for your understanding. BBYO For Teens: Passionate about mental health? Are you the friend others always turn to? Want to help your friends, but don’t know where to start? Join us as we spill the tea on mental health and get certified in Teen Mental Health First Aid! This is a 3-session, certification course for teens in grades 10 - 12, that teaches you how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in your friends. For Youth Professionals, Parents, and Community Members: Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is designed to help adults in the lives of adolescents learn how to assist a youth who is experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Israel Quest: We also are thrilled to share the launch of this year’s Israel Quest Grants for teen travel to Israel. Teens can receive up to $3,000 of tuition assistance for an upcoming peer Israel experience with their Youth Group, Study abroad program, and more. "Yad Yehuda of Greater Washington is a volunteer organization that serves as the Jewish community's financial safety net serving hundreds of individuals from every Jewish neighborhood in the Greater Washington area." Their programs include: Emergency Relief, Capital Kosher Pantry, Tomchei Shabbat, Gemach Exchange, Misaskim of Greater Washington, Chesed Shel Emes, and Nismach. The Kosher Pantry is very close by for those interested in volunteering. If you know someone in distress, please advise of these services. Bikur Holim of Greater Washington is the support organization for medical needs. Their services include finding kosher food in hospitals, equipment loans, transportation assistance, kosher home meal deliveries, social support, places to stay when in the area for medical care and Ben's Wellness, a fund that assists members of the greater Washington Jewish community with mental health bills.
